On Sunday July 23, an estimated 20,000 runners gathered to join the 45th annual Wharf to Wharf race. The race is six miles long and starts at the Santa Cruz Wharf, and ends at the Capitola Wharf. The morning fog kept the runners cool as they made their way through Santa Cruz. The thousands of runners descended upon the Capitola finish line, with the fastest time around 27 mins. The race started at 8:30 a.m. and participants arrived until around 11:30 a.m.
Wharf to Wharf is one of the largest summer events on the west coast. Runners enjoy live bands along the way and local vendors in Capitola Village. The race was sponsored by Sutter Health. The official race results will released on Wednesday July 26. For more info click here.
