Nicole Sunshine Kinder:

Born in Santa Cruz at Dominican, went to school at SLV, and currently works as a licensed aesthetician in Santa Cruz.

 What are your professional ambitions?

I want to get my nursing license and to incorporate that with my aesthetics license.

Why do you want to be a nurse and aesthetician?

I’ve always been interested in health care. I love helping people. I love making people happy. I’m kinda girly, but also tomboyish at the same time. Where I work, we have a good family. We all get along. My clients always leave happy.

What do you like to do for fun?

Lately, it’s been fishing. My friends have boats and we’ll go fishing and wake boarding.  I have also enjoyed getting into running.

How did you get into fishing?

My dad’s a big fisherman. He’s taken us kids ever since we could hold a fishing rod.  We do all kinds: bass, salmon fishing, and sturgeon.

Do you clean the fish?

No. I catch the fish, take a picture with the fish, and eat the fish.

What’s your relationship to the ocean?

I love to jump in the ocean for a cold rinse after running. But, being on the ocean for fishing, rocking on a boat, I have to take Dramamine or else I get sick.  I also have a fear of sharks.

What keeps you motivated to stay in shape?

Victoria’s Secret. You want to look good in a bathing suit. I’ve been doing hot yoga and hot pilates 6 days a week and I took up running. I also hike and play softball two days a week. I try to run everyday.

You sound like a pretty disciplined person.

I would say so. But, I try to take everything in moderation.

What about traveling?

I absolutely love traveling. I wanted to become a traveling nurse, and I might still do that if I’m not married with kids. I also work part-time selling software and I’ve got visit Georgia, Florida, London, Vegas and other places for conventions.

Where do you want to go?

I’m not biased.  I’m open to anything.

What do you get out of travel?

Education. It makes me appreciate what I have here at home. It also broadens your horizons.

What is more important: honesty or ambition?

Honesty. Easy. Who wants to be lied to? Honesty is really important.

What are the most attractive qualities in a man?

I’m attracted to someone who is considerate, thoughtful, and kind. Also, I like someone who is manly, someone who is athletic. I also appreciate a sense of humor and someone who drives a truck:)

Do you remember your dreams often?

Sometimes, if I’m close to waking up. I remember my nightmares. It’s always vampires. Vampires are always chasing me.

Which are your most important relationships?  Who’s important to you?

My father is definitely one of them. He’s been my number 1 fan for as long as I can remember. He takes me fishing. I play on his softball team. He’s a man’s man, but he’s very considerate. He’d give you the shirt off of his back. He’s a very good man.

Thanks for your time Nicole.  Have a fantastic summer!

Thanks. You, too!
