The surf was big but looked poor this morning. I counted one surfer at Lighthouse Beach and he was working pretty hard for it (hooray for dedication!). A few guys from Huntington Beach came essentially on a whim. They were prepared for Mexico and chose Santa Cruz at the last minute. Hopefully they’ll stick around for tomorrow when waves should be bigger and better. What to do when there’s not much for me to feature at The Lane? Wander around Pacific Ave of course! The day started sleepy but more people ventured out with their umbrellas to shop and to be social. The coffee shops were busy with smiling folks and the line outside the movie theater was starting to grow. Rain? Yes! But not keeping spirits down today.
