The Patagonia building, located on 415 River st. downtown Santa Cruz saw an incredible fundraising awareness event on thursday night. The event became the center of attention for some 300 people, with local sponsors such as: Whole Foods Market, Real Good fish, Patagonia Provisions and Discretion Brewing making this event feel warm and welcoming to all. The community was able to partake in great food and get hands on with great products like that of Bureo Skateboards which are made from recycled fishing nets that create harm to our planets most precious eco-system. The event was put together by Kyle Theirman of the Save the Waves Coalition which thrives on the education of not just being aware of the foot prints we leave as a community but even more so of exactly why world famous waves are the way they are and how important it is to understand them in order to protect them. The event put on a great video slide show for guests, with contributions from: Reef check, Save our shores, Wahine Project, Ride a wave foundation and Ashley lloyd. The event was a wonderful experience that showed just how much we all love and care our oceans.
